The Importance of Air Duct Sealing in Petaluma

Signs You Need Air Duct Sealing in Petaluma:

Are your energy bills excessively high during hot or cold seasons? Does it take longer to heat or cool your home? Is there dust and debris blowing through your living areas? These issues may be due to leaks, holes, disconnected ducts, or uneven air distribution in your ductwork.

Sealing your air ducts can enhance comfort and energy efficiency in your home. Energy Star reports that 20-30% of air moving through your ducts can be lost due to these problems, making your HVAC system work harder and drawing dust from attics or crawl spaces into your home.

The Air Duct Sealing Process and Its Benefits in Petaluma

How We Seal Your Ducts:

  • Unsealed Boot Problem: Gaps allow dust and debris to infiltrate your home and cause air leakage.
  • Mastic Tape Sealing: Mastic tape secures the metal boot under the register.
  • Mastic Sealant Application: The boot is sealed to the floor using mastic sealant.

Advantages of Sealing Your Air Ducts:

  • Energy Savings: Proper sealing lowers energy bills by ensuring your HVAC system runs efficiently.
  • Better Air Quality: Sealing prevents dust and debris from entering your home, improving indoor air quality.
  • Better Comfort: A sealed system ensures effective heating and cooling, maintaining a comfortable environment.
  • Longer HVAC Lifespan: Reducing strain on your system prolongs its lifespan.
  • Environmental Impact: Efficient systems use less energy, reducing your carbon footprint.

The Air Doctor Standards

Air Doctor adheres to NADCA standard specification guide and uses the source removal method. We use a portable HEPA filtered air duct vacuum system (and/or gas-powered commercial air duct vacuums) to clean all supply ducts, return air ducts, and plenums. This system is brought into each room and used in conjunction with a compressed air whip (and/or rotating power brushes). The air whip agitates the duct while the HEPA filtered air duct vacuum system creates a negative vacuum at 3500 cfm (up to 10,000 cfm with our gas-powered commercial air duct vacuums). Once each supply air duct is cleaned, the return air system is cleaned in the same fashion. Finally, we clean the furnace unit.
